Clean Eating is Unrealistic

No really, it actually is.  I did a YouTube video on this a while back entitled, I hate Clean Eating, and I said just kidding I don’t really hate it, I just hate the term.  And here are my reasons why:

  1. Most people “eat clean” because they want to lose weight. It doesn’t guarantee fat loss, eating less calories then you expend, results in fat loss.Eating organic chocolate cake is same as eating non organic chocolate cake when it comes to fat loss.

  2. It’s hard to maintain. You’re so pumped you’re eating clean, you’re feeling good, and then you see pizza and 5 slices later your like oh shit.Depriving yourself of foods you really enjoy can lead to binge eating.

  3. It demonizes certain foods and restaurants.I can’t tell you how many social media posts I have seen about putting down drive thru food chains like McDonalds.Obviously I don’t recommend getting all of your meals from drive thru’s, but what the heck is wrong with a ham, egg, and cheese on an English muffin from Dunkin Donut’s or McDonalds, its 300 calories, I mean really, am I going to die because I didn’t make it at home with my organic, non GMO overpriced food from Whole Foods.

  4. Not everyone can afford it.I buy organic meat, milk, and eggs, but guess what, I choose to spend my discretionary income on that. Not everyone can do that though, so shouting from the rooftops on social media that you have to “eat clean”, is not only obnoxious, but its dangerous to our children.I grew up getting free lunch, kids can be mean, they always have been and always will, but geez, thank goodness we didn’t have “clean eating” back then.We all just sat down, eat our Skippy PB&J and enjoyed life.So now not only do you have to have the coolest brand name cloths and sneakers but now you have to organic, non GMO, wild caught, super food, food!

BTW, my grandmother in law (GG) turned 99 years old today and I can guarantee you the only time she eats organic is over at my house.  She lives alone in her own house and has a better memory than I do. She used to walk 5 miles every day, she has always been lean, she eats’ McDonalds a couple of times of month.  She clear’s her plate at every meal.  She eats veggies and fruits, and pizza’s and pies. She eats everything in moderation.  So instead of focusing on “clean eating” lets focus on moderation.  Lean proteins, fruits, veggies, and whole grains.  But let’s also eat that pizza and ice cream, I don’t want to live in a world where I can’t enjoy pizza with my kids and I certainly don’t want them feeling bad or making others feel bad about their food choices!
